Achievement objectives

Number, level 2:

  1. Devise and use problem solving strategies (use equipment, guess and check, think)
  2. Write and solve problems which involve while numbers, using addition, subtraction, multiplication and addition
  3. Write and solve story problems that involve halves.

Learning outcomes

Students will be able to:

  1. double numbers
  2. use mental strategies to solve simple additions.

Focus on building vocabulary and mathematical literacy.

Students will:

  • learn key vocabulary
  • develop understanding of doubles, through teacher-led discussion and through gaining confidence with the appropriate language
  • learn and practise language structures used in talking about this mathematical concept.
